Lazy Chinese Beef Stew 紅燒白蘿蔔牛肉


1. 2 1/2 lbs beef stew meat (chuck roast meat), cubed
2. 8-10 slices of fresh ginger
3. 5-6 gloves of garlic
4. 1 pc cinnamon stick
5. 2 pcs star anise
6. 2 pcs green onion, sliced
7. 1 Tbs Chinese bean sauce
8. 1 Tbs crushed red peppers
9. 1/4- 1/2 cup of soya sauce
10. 4 Tbs dark soya sauce (salt less) (optional)
11. 1/4 cup cooking wine or red wine
12. Tbs sesame oil
13. 2 big Chinese turnip, cubed
14. 3-4 carrot, cubed

A. Brown slightly # 2-6 with #12 for 2-3 mins, add #7-8 and cook for 1 min
B. Add #1, cook for 10-15 mins on medium high
C. Add #9-11 and cook for another 5-10 mins. Cover and cook for 1hours on low. Stir occasionally. The natural juice should be out.
D. Add #13-14. Cover and cook another 2-3 hours. Stir occasionally. If too much gravy, cook on high without cover till desired thickness.






The name “Lazy” is the suggestion from my boy. He says it is too easy.
